Emily is a champion snapper... at 3 years old

A snap-happy tot has won a national photography competition.

Emily Boldy, three, of Illingworth, Halifax, will now see her photo of penguins at Chester Zoo blown up to fill to an advertising billboard in Halifax.

Lindsey Boldy, Emily's mother, said: "I was over the moon when she won. When you enter these competitions you're not sure if you're going to win so it's amazing.

"She started taking photos aged two on my mobile phone's camera and when her dad got a new camera at Christmas she wanted his old one. Since then Emily's been taking photos of everything around the home, her brother, days out and all sorts."

Emily was the youngest winner in the competition and wins her own kids digital camera and a selection of toys.

Mrs Boldy added: "I took Emily to nursery today and she was showing off to all her teachers and is really happy at getting her own camera."

Jon Adams, competition judge and editor of Digital Photo magazine, said: "Kids aren't tainted by the 'rules' of photography like adults, and this means they often shoot pictures that are truly refreshing and bursting with energy.

"Emily's group of penguins is perfectly composed, and the action is charming. They're like a group of naughty children; three of the six just won't look at the camera!"

The competition, organised by Fisher Price and Toys-R-Us, was for children aged between three and nine.
