Firemen free girl after car smash

A FATHER, his daughter and a teenager escaped serious injury in a road smash on Saturday.

Police and fire crews from Halifax were called to the crash at Moor End Road, Mount Tabor, Halifax, at 7.40am.

The accident happened when a Ford Focus, being driven by a man with his teenage daughter, was in collision with a Landrover close to The New Inn.

The girl had to be cut free from the wrecked Ford Focus.

All three suffered minor injuries and were taken to Calderdale Royal Hospital.

PC Dave Hall, of Halifax road traffic, said: "It looks more dramatic than it was because we had to cut the roof off the Ford to rescue the girl.

"It occurred as the Ford Focus was coming out of Moor End Road."

The Landrover was driven by 17-year-old Kit Richardson, of Cave Hill, Shibden, Halifax.

His father, Howard Richardson, said: "I received a text from my son to say he had been involved in a bump. He is always understated.

"But everybody is okay. He has stayed overnight at his girlfriend's house and was on his way to work for Elite Home Designs as an apprentice builder."

Peter Bamforth, of Heath Hill Road, said: "Some kind of safety measures are needed here. Accidents happen here regularly."
