Flooding: main road through Hebden Bridge now closed
THE main road through the Calder Valley has now been shut due to flooding.
The A646, Burnley Road, was closed by Calderdale Council officers this morning after the Environment Agency issued a flood warning for the River Calder in that area.
Traffic is now unable to pass along the road, from the Heptonstall turning circle in Hebden Bridge to the Rochdale Road junction, Todmorden.
A council spokeswoman confirmed it had closed the road and said its officers were watching other roads for problems where it might be necessary to take action.
Market Street, Hebden Bridge, is also now submerged in rainwater.
Rochdale Road, Todmorden, has been closed between the A646 Burnley Road and the junction with Inchfield Road, Walsden, due to flooding.
Halifax Road, Denholme, is also closed both ways at the B6141 Long Causeway junction because of flooding.
