For sale: the old farm too risky to enter
A 17th-century listed building will go up for auction – but the buyer will need to carry out some serious renovation.
Birchen Lee Carr Farm, Raw Lane, Mytholmroyd, has been labelled one of the finest examples of a yeoman clothier's house in West Yorkshire.
But it is now sealed off, deemed too dangerous to enter.
The building, expected to be bought by a developer for hundreds of thousands, is in such poor condition it was put on the English Heritage At Risk register two years ago.
It has a two-storey barn, 13 acres and is Grade 2 star listed.
The farm, which the Yorkshire Tourist Board has listed as a visitor attraction, will go under the hammer on October 29 at Milan's Wine Bar, Halifax.
Auctioneer Peter Green said: "Obviously it needs a weekend's work or two.
"But whoever gets this is getting a real treasure. It's a fine, fine property and the potential is there for anyone to see."
