Friends' tribute to tragic Bobby
A NIGHT of music and entertainment in tribute to a popular teenager will raise cash for charity.
Family and friends of 17-year-old Bobby McBride will gather at Illingworth Liberal Club on Friday, March 21.
The Ovenden teenager died in January after battling the rare and devastating muscular disease, dermatomyositis.
Live bands, a raffle and auction, singers and a chest wax are all planned for the evening, which will raise money to go towards research into dermatomyositis.
And Illingworth Liberal Club committee has issued an open invitation to everyone, meaning non-members can join the fun.
Peter Stewart, a friend of Bobby and his family, has helped organise the event. He said: "It promises to be a fantastic night and we hope to raise lots of money for a very worthy cause.
"Bobby was a really popular young lad who got on well with everyone and had lots of friends. It's been a privilege to help bring something like this together for him.
The event starts at 8pm.
