Fun day for Calderdale's top dogs!

DOGS of all shapes and sizes put their best paw forward to wow a show judge.

Dozens of dogs took part in the novelty dog show and competed for titles such as prettiest bitch, most handsome dog, best vintage, best brace and happiest dog at the Causeway Foot Inn, Ogden, Halifax.

Spaniels, St Bernards, German shepherds and many other breeds were out to impress in the show. David Clifford judged the categories.

Liz Pugh, of Thornton, organised the event in aid of the Dogs' Trust.

She said: "It's a day of pure fun for the dogs and their families.

"The last couple of years I've raised about 300 for the Dogs' Trust, which is where I got my dog from."

The day raised 657 and 108 dogs were entered.

Samantha Price took her clumber spaniel, Charlie, and 19-month-old son William to the show. She said: "We've had a brilliant day."

Best in show was Molly, a five-year-old cross breed who won three other classes. She is owned by Nina Broadhead.
