Grannies in training for Walt Disney World marathon, Orlando
TWO grannies are among a team of women gearing up for one of America's most famous marathons.
Sue Nuttall, 62, of Sandbeds Road, Pellon, Halifax, and Janet McSharry, 59, of Bradshaw, Halifax, are running the 26-mile Walt Disney World race in Orlando, Florida, as part of a group from Halifax Lady Runners.
It will be the 23rd marathon Mrs Nuttall has run since she started at the age of 40 and she says the team is more than ready for their latest adventure.
She said: "We have all been running together for years and will be wearing Mickey Mouse masks and the red, white and blue of the Union flag.
"When I look at my race number, 10,105, it gives me the collywobbles realising I'm running a marathon.
"But it's an incredible thing to do. Once you run a marathon you can do anything."
The team, who train all over Calderdale, are not following strict diets. "We all like our fish and chips," she said.
The other runners are Pauline Brown, 55, of Norwood Green, Ann Fearne, 60, of Bradford, Julie Longworth, 40, of Highroad Well, Halifax, and Barbara Sayer, 64, of Bradshaw.
