Green light for wind turbine
A FARMER is to install a wind turbine in a bid to make electricity bills a thing of the past.
Howard Hey, of Hollin Hey Farm, off Hall Bank Lane, Mytholmroyd, will put up the tower, which will stand 15 metres with 10 metre rotor blades in a nearby field.
He hopes the 30,000 turbine will provide up to 4,000 worth of electricity each year.
Michelle Robertson, of Segen, who will install the turbine, said: "The benefits – both financially and environmentally – are fairly clear for something like this, although it's surprising how few farmers are actually installing them."
He will be the second farmer in Calderdale to put up a wind turbine.
The project was approved by Calderdale Council's Planning Committee.
One letter of objection said the proposal would be a blot on the landscape and interfere with a wildlife corridor.
