Gun gang's terror raids

A GANG of masked gunmen terrorised a family when they burst into their home and demanded cash and valuables.

The three men ordered Michael Adams and his two sisters, Sharon, 32, and Suzanne, 28, to lie down at gunpoint as they ransacked their property.

Bradford Crown Court heard that their horrific ordeal took place on November 26 last year at the house that they shared at Savile Park Road, Halifax.

Ben Crosland, prosecuting, said Mr Adams had returned home after a night out and heard a bang at the front door.

"He went to the door and was confronted by three Asian men with scarves covering their faces," said Mr Crosland.

Mr Adams managed to shut the door on Mohammed Shamraiz, 21, Shakeel Ahmed, 24, and Samir Ahmed, 29.

But seconds later the men smashed a glass panel in the door, let themselves in and shouted at Mr Adams to drop to the floor.

"The first male pointed a gun at him," said Mr Crosland, "Male number one said, 'Get your wallet, phone, cash and gold'."

Mr Adams handed over his wallet, mobile phone and a silver ring he was wearing.

The other two men went upstairs where Mr Adams's sisters had been asleep.

One was already on the phone to the police and both tried to hide under a bed before one of the men burst in.

One of the sister's handed over a jewellery box from another room containing change.

The pair were then told to lie down on a bed and not to move.

Mr Crosland said: "The man threatened to kill the sisters on several occasions during this and, not surprisingly, they were terrified."

Downstairs, one of the men pressed a gun to Mr Adams's head and demanded his pin numbers before leaving.

Two days later the gang struck again, targeting the home of firefighter John Kennedy at Moorlands View, Savile Park, Haifax.

Mr Kennedy managed to slam the front door shut, lock it and leave the property by the back door before calling the police.

The gang broke in and raided the house.

Samir Ahmed was arrested at the scene and the other two ran off.

They were arrested after CCTV footage of them using a stolen credit card at Asda, Thrum Hall, Halifax, linked them to the burglaries.

Shakeel Ahmed, of Milton Place, Halifax, Shamraiz and Samir Ahmed, both of Glad-stone Road, King Cross, Halifax, have all admitted two offences of aggravated burglary.

Samir Ahmed has also pleaded guilty to an attempted burglary at another house in Savile Park.

Judge Robert Bartfield was expected to sentence them later today.
