Halifax election fraud probe: second man held after arrest on eve of poll
POLICE have made a second arrest in connection with alleged election fraud in Halifax
A 19-year-old man was arrested and questioned yesterday evening.
His arrest follows that on Tuesday of a 62-year-old man, from the west central area of Halifax, in connection with alleged false applications for proxy votes in the Calderdale Council elections taking place today.
Both men have been bailed by police pending further inquiries.
A proxy vote is where a voter who will be away during the election can apply for another person to visit the polling station and vote on their behalf.
