I saw Billy's killing in a dream: Brother's shock premonition
THE brother of murdered Billy Khan has revealed he had horrific premonitions of the fatal stabbing.
Yusuf Khan, 29, said he had a string of nightmares in the weeks before Billy lost his life in the Elland attack.
"I was having bad dreams, sweating," said Yusuf. Then, he says, he dreamt he saw his brother dying in the street.
"I dreamt it – and God knows I wish I could have changed fate," said Yusuf, who was also injured when violence exploded in the Rosebery Street area of Elland last Friday.
Billy, 34, a father-of-three, died from stab wounds while being taken to hospital.
Yusuf, now back at home in Elland after being released from intensive care, said he had been in shock during the attack and had not realised he had been stabbed.
He said he was struggling to breathe and found Billy collapsed. "I saw my brother dying, it hit me, I could not breathe, it just hit me," he said.
Then he lay down next to his mortally wounded brother.
Yusuf, who suffered stab wounds that affected his lungs and liver, was taken to Huddersfield Royal Infirmary with 34-year-old Billy.
Yusuf was taken into intensive care. He said that when he heard Billy had died "I wanted to come home and grieve with my family.
"I couldn't do that in hospital," he said.
"I couldn't sleep and I couldn't comprehend what has happened.
"I am lost without him and in pieces.
"Billy was open-hearted, caring and forgiving. He was a prince to me. He would help anyone in need and was not judgmental.
"I'm proud my brother is being my guardian angel, protecting me."
Yusuf lives with his partner Ruby Sajawal, 22, and their eight-month-old daughter, Zara.
But he says the family are now looking to move.
"They forgot to put the 'H' in Elland," he said.
Two men have been remanded in police custody charged with murder,
attempted murder and witness intimidation.
They are Kayshan Farooq, 28, of Langdale Street, Elland, and Mohammed Muftah Fazal Ul Haq, 39, of Elizabeth Street, Elland.
