Jobless bricklayer cultivated cannabis
A jobless bricklayer admitted cultivating cannabis.
Gareth Ballard, 33, of Moines Close, Mixenden, Halifax, appeared before Calderdale magistrates.
Waseem Raja, prosecuting, said the house in Boothtown where Ballard was living with his girlfriend was searched by police who found cannabis plants, lights and tinfoil on the walls.
Mr Raja said: "He had decided to grow the cannabis because he was sick of being ripped off by people he was buying it from.
Mark Baxendale, for Ballard, said: "He accepts responsibility."
Sentencing was adjourned for reports.
