Junior Dragon's Den star James, 11, lands role in BBC's Robin Hood
FIRST he conquered the dragons. Now 11-year-old James Buckley is set to become an outlaw and tackle the Sheriff of Nottingham.
James, who shot to fame after becoming the youngest entrepreneur on TV's Dragon's Den, is to star in the latest BBC 1 series of Robin Hood which hits our screens on Saturday.
He plays the part of Walt, an orphan, who travels from Huddersfield to Nottingham, and is befriended by Robin Hood and his merry men, who steal from the rich to feed the poor.
James spent two weeks filming in Budapest where he had his own trailer and make-up artists on the set. He was joined by his parents, Matthew and Vanessa Buckley of Minister Close, Greetland, and nine-year-old sister, Lucy.
The programme goes out at 6.50pm and has a huge following. The first series attracted over eight million viewers.
This is the third series and James, who has a speaking part, appears in episode five. There are 11 episodes in all and series four has already been commissioned.
The drama stars Jonas Armstrong as Robin Hood, Gordon Kenn-edy as Little John and Keith Allen as the Sheriff of Nottingham. James, who is head boy at The Gleddings School, Halifax, says Gordon Kennedy befriended him and gave him lots of advice.
"It was a fantastic experience and I'd love to do it again," said James.
He now has his own manager as well as agent, and appeared on TV shows after winning a Children In Need version of Dragon's Den 18 months ago.
He pitched his idea based around bullying and loneliness in primary schools with his Look For Loneliness campaign and won the backing of the millionaire businessman and Dragon, James Caan.
