Lilliput 'town' sells for £8,500

A RANGE of ornaments belonging to a Halifax woman has raised more than £8,500 at auction.

Famous names like Lilliput Lane, Cherished Teddies and Royal Doulton all went under the hammer.

The highest bid was 250, for St Peter's Cove, an island made up of tiny cottages, from the Lilliput Lane collection.

The owner had recently died, leaving the trinkets for her husband to sell.

They had never been displayed so were in mint condition.

There were more than 400 Lilliput Lane ornaments, badges and plates, figurine Teddies and Beswick items.

The sale at Gary Don Auctioneers, Curtis Buildings, Berking Avenue, Leeds, also featured furniture, art deco and old books.

Owner Gary Don said the woman's lot had been the main feature of the auction.

Other items on sale included a papier-mache bulldog, sold for nearly 800, as well as three lots of postcard albums, sold for 1,000.

The two-day event raised more than 25,000.
