Linda to run London Marathon for multiple sclerosis therapy centre

LINDA Crabtree will be taking part in this year's London Marathon for a charity close to her heart.

She will be raising money for the multiple sclerosis therapy centre where her friend Susan Barry is a patient.

The 43-year-old, of Parkway, Queensbury, was diagnosed with the debilitating condition 18 years ago.

The mum of two attends the therapy centre in Rawdon, Leeds, for physiotherapy and says it is thanks to them that she can still walk.

"I'm pleased she's running to raise money for the centre" said Susan. "They are always trying to raise money so it can help more people."

It was hearing how the therapy centre helps Susan and other MS sufferers that inspired runner Linda to choose it as her nominated charity.

This year will be the sixth time Linda, a member of Halifax Harriers, has competed in the 26-mile challenge.

Last year the 49-year-old, of Hazelhurst Road, Queensbury, completed it in three hours, 31 minutes. This time she wants to do it in under three and a half hours.

She has been training since January 13 with long-distance sessions of 35 miles a week, and is looking forward to the race.

"It's so hard but so rewarding and the atmosphere down there is fantastic," she said.

Linda is hoping to raise 500 for the therapy centre. Anyone wanting to sponsor her should call 01274 816517.
