Magician lands Halifax panto role
A CHAMPION magician is hoping to bring a spell of success to Halifax's pantomime as he joins this year's cast at the Victoria Theatre.
Jonathan Shotton, an award-winning member of the Magic Circle, will take to the stage in Jack and the Beanstalk as broker's man Spic.
Mr Shotton won the British Junior Stage Magic Champion at 15 and four years later became one of the youngest magicians in history to win the International Brotherhood of Magicians British Ring Shield for the most entertaining magic act.
He will be joined in the 2008 panto line-up by television actor Stewart Howson as villain Fleshcreep.
Mr Howson has had roles in a number of programmes including Emmerdale, Doctors, Byker Grove and Coronation Street. He has also appeared in a number of feature films.
Also in the show, Jack will be played by Paul Michael Jones, Jack's mother Dame Trott, by Rob Forknall, Jack's brother Simple Simon by Mike Carnell, and Jack's love interest, Princess Alicia by Rebecca Charnley.
