Man arrested over 'Hoax' graffiti spree in valley towns
POLICE investigating a graffiti spree have arrested a man.
Officers were called after the tag 'Hoax' was sprayed at Mytholmroyd Railway Station and Calder Holmes Park in Hebden Bridge.
PC Ryan Stockton from the Upper Valley neighbourhood policing team and Acting Sergeant Peter Shaw of British Transport Police have been investigating and on Monday arrested a 21-year-old Todmorden man on suspicion of criminal damage.
He was also arrested on suspicion of the cultivation and possession of cannabis and possession of a class B drug.
He has since been released on police bail.
Acting Sergeant Shaw said: "This was very much a partnership operation and investigation with West Yorkshire Police.
"Acts of vandalism will not be tolerated by either force and we will do what we can to bring offenders to justice."
Inspector Derrick Oldham, who leads the Upper Valley neighbourhood policing team, said: "The graffiti caused a lot of upset among the local community and we teamed up with British Transport Police to take action."
