Man pleads guilty to 1987 rape in Halifax after DNA evidence links him to crime

A man has pleaded guilty to raping a 22-year-old woman in Halifax 21 years ago.

Paul Taylor, (pictured) also known as Paul Biggins, 49, admitted the offence when he appeared before Leeds Crown Court yesterday.

He was arrested in February as part of Operation Recall after new DNA evidence linked him to the crime.

His victim, now deceased, was attacked on September 12, 1987, at Wellesley Park, Halifax.

Taylor, of Bradshaw Lane, Bradshaw, Halifax, had been due to appear before the court on Monday but failed to attend.

Sentencing was adjourned until January 23 and he was remanded in custody.
