Mountaineer, adventurer, volunteer all at 18
A MOUNTAINEER, volunteer and an triathlete – just some of the many roles George Hilton has squeezed into his early years.
The former Holy Trinity Infants and Junior School pupil was 18 last Saturday and first appeared in the Courier when he scaled Mont Blanc in just under 12 hours, aged 15.
Since then he has packed his rucksack again to climb the Atlas mountains in Morocco, completed triathlons and spent three weeks working in an orphanage in Romania.
George, from Cheltenham Place, Spring Hall, Halifax, recently gained an A* in physics and maths and an A in politics in his A-levels.
His dad, David, said: "We're so proud to have a son who has achieved so much and enjoyed and excelled in all the challenges he has faced.
"His results are wonderful and we wish him well on his next challenge."
He will now take up a place to study mechanical engineering at Southampton University, sponsored by the Royal Navy, before he takes up a career as an officer.
