Movie triumph for two teens: Showing at national museum
TWO budding film-makers will have their work shown at the prestigious National Media Museum in Bradford.
North Halifax Grammar School pupils Robert Frost and Jacob Hayes, both 15, will screen their 13-minute film Betrayal at The Co-operative Film-Makers Festival on October 9 and 10. It is one of 100 movies entered by film makers, schools and groups across the UK.
Robert, of Orchard Rise, Sowerby Bridge, said it had taken a year to complete the tale of two gangsters who discover a grass in their midst is working with police. It was filmed in Sowerby Bridge and Savile Park, Halifax.
Robert said: "I have always been interested in telling stories and started out making brick films with Lego.
"I like Quentin Tarantino films and Steven Spielberg too.
"We started writing this about a year ago and it has been hard work, fitting it in with school.
"But I enjoyed doing the story and editing it. I'm quite pleased with it. It's got a good story and it's tense so I hope it will keep people's attention.
"In future I would love to be a director, or anything in film.
"My ideal would be a gangster epic with lots of drama, killing and blood."
Jacob, of Wibsey, Bradford, produced Betrayal and plays the part of Jack.
He said: "It's been quite a challenge but it's something we're proud of."
The boys' school pals were treated to a special screening thanks to business and enterprise education charity Young Enterprise. The Co-operative Film-makers Festival is organised by The Co-operative Group and has given budding directors the chance to air their films since 1966.
Edgar Wright, director of Shaun of the Dead, said: "The festival is a fantastic opportunity for young film-makers."
