Mytholmroyd date for Emma

WEST End singer and actress Emma Williams will be among those taking to the stage in a fund-raising Calderdale concert.

The event, which will showcase Yorkshire talent from the worlds of theatre and television, will raise money for Overgate Hospice, Elland.

Emma, who starred in the smash musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang has recently finished a successful theatre run playing the role of 1960s model Christine Keeler whose affair with Cabinet Minister John Profumo caused a national scandal.

A former pupil of North Halifax Grammar School, Emma will join Emmerdale's Matthew Wolfenden, of Norwood Green, Halifax.

Matthew, a former pupil of Brighouse High School, has starred alongside Emma before in the hit musical Sex, Chips and Rock 'n' Roll. He has also appeared on the West End stage and before joining the cast of Emmerdale, he appeared in the TV drama Hollyoaks.

The concert, Yorkshire Showcase, will be held at the Church of the Good Shepherd, Mytholmroyd, and also taking part will be Calderdale performer Neil Hurst, who is currently on tour, singer Sue Morris, entertainer John Wallis, Hebden Bridge Junior Band, lyric baritone Adam Porter-Smith and students from the Whiteley Academy of Performing Arts.

They will be supported by the Luddenden Singers from St Mary's Church, Luddenden.

The evening will also include a raffle and licensed bar.

Tickets are now on sale for the concert which takes place on Sunday March 18, 7pm, at Overgate Hospice, Harvey's, Halifax, Overgate charity shops in Hebden Bridge and Todmorden and from organiser Vikki Egerton on 01422 882510.
