Only one car was involved in death crash, say police

POLICE have confirmed only one car was involved in the crash that killed 19-year-old Haris Javaid.

The Vauxhall Omega he was in crashed into a tree in Gibbet Street, Highroad Well, Halifax.

Two 19-year-olds and a 15-year-old who were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving in connection with the crash have now been released on police bail.

Sgt Chris Boyd of Calderdale Road Traffic Police said: "We are satisfied there was only one vehicle involved in this incident, but it is going to be a protracted inquiry as there are a number of factors involved."

Police are still seeking witnesses to the accident, at 12.10am on Monday.

The funeral of Mark Thornber, 31, who was one of two motorcyclists who died in an accident in Rochdale Road, Barkisland, on Sunday afternoon, will be held at Christ Church, Barkisland, next Monday at 11.30am.
