Pay the @*##!% money! Alzheimer's Society set to benefit from swearbox

A HALIFAX businesswoman has sworn to stop swearing – in aid of the Alzheimer's Society which helped her mother.

Judith Wright, of Wright Angle Marketing, Halifax, has asked staff to pay money into a swearbox each time one of them turns the air blue.

All the cash raised will be given to the society, which helped support her mum, Betty Ratcliffe.

Mrs Wright, 47, of Greetland, said: "I was telling a story at work and suddenly realised how many times I had sworn in the space of about five sentences.

"Everyone agreed it would be a great way to raise money."

Mrs Wright and her three sisters – Lynn Cunningham, 54, of Hipperholme, Anne Walker, 56, of York and Kathryn Spendilow, 49, of Cheshire – have already raised 11,000. Lynn and Anne will boost that further when they do a sponsored trek in Beijing in August.

The next event is a wine and tapas tasting on June 13 at the Rock Inn, Holywell Green.
