Poet Ted Hughes's house to open as holiday home

The doors will be thrown open tomorrow at 1 Aspinall Street, Mytholmroyd – the birthplace of the late Poet Laureate Ted Hughes.

The terrace house has been transformed into a writers' retreat and holiday home, which will be officially opened by fellow poet Simon Armitage.

More than 70,000 has been spent modernising the property, which is leased from Calderdale Council by the Elmet Trust, set up two years ago to celebrate the life and work of Hughes.

The opening ceremony takes place at 10.30am.
