Police find body in Calderdale reservoir
A TEENAGER has drowned at a Calderdale beauty spot.
The 17-year-old had been swimming with a group of friends in Widdop reservoir, near Hebden Bridge.
The alarm was raised after his pals lost sight of him yesterday afternoon.
A police underwater search team scoured the area.
Widdop Road, the trans-Pennine route that links Hebden Bridge and Nelson, was sealed off.
Police said the youth's body was eventually recovered at 6.20pm.
The death of the un-named teenager brought a warning from police about the dangers of swimming in open water.
Today, as forecasters predicted the hottest day of the year, officers urged people not to play in canals, rivers or reservoirs, with their hidden dangers of currents, unknown water levels and steep temperature changes.
Police are not treating the death of the boy, from London, as suspicious.
