Raided Halifax bars told to close: Arrested trio are released
THREE Halifax bars raided by police have been shut while their licences are reviewed.
La Salsa, Barbarella's and Bar Rouge – all in Silver Street in Halifax town centre – were swooped on at the weekend as part of a people trafficking and money-laundering investigation.
All were ordered to close immediately on Saturday night and will have their licences looked at over the next few days.
A 35-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of money laundering, people trafficking and immigration offences, has been bailed pending further inquiries.
Two foreign nationals arrested on suspicion of immigration offences have also been released without charge but will still be subject to immigration monitoring.
Police leading the investigation include Calderdale's proceeds of crime team. They seized a large amount of cash and documents as part of their inquiries, which they say are continuing.
The raids are thought to be connected to a swoop at La Salsa in Huddersfield at the weekend.
