Raising £500 for little Aaron's cause

A little boy with a muscle-wasting disease was at the heart of a fund-raising event.

Allan and Barbara Reid, grandparents to 11-month-old Aaron Ryan, hosted the event at Illingworth Liberal Club, Illingworth, Halifax.

The couple, of Forest Crescent Illingworth, organised a night of live music, entertaining acts, auctions and bingo for Aaron.

The event raised more than 500.

Aaron, of Oldham, has just been diagnosed with X-linked myotubular myopathy – a condition which means he cannot walk, talk, eat or breathe unaided due to under-developed muscles.

Any cash raised will help buy specialist toys to aid Aaron's development.

Barbara said: "When Aaron is finally allowed home form hospital the equipment will help stimulate him. They will give him a better quality of life."

Aaron is one of only eight children in the world known to suffer from X-linked myotubular myopathy.
