School admissions: 4 out of 5 pupils get first choice
FOUR out of five children transferring to new secondary schools in September have been offered places at their first choice school.
But that means nearly 500 youngsters have been left disappointed and they will have to accept their second or third choice school or go through a rigorous appeals system.
Letters were sent out this week to 2,355 pupils of which 8.9 per cent were told they would have to accept their second choice school and 6.4 per cent their third choice.
It is an unusual year because of the formation of Trinity Academy, to replace Holy Trinity High School, at Holmfield, Halifax, and the intended conversion of Park Lane High, at Siddal, Halifax, into a National Trust School.
