Singing songs of praise

The Halifax Bible Society joined the Salvation Army, St James's Street, Halifax for a united Songs of Praise Service. It was led by captains Paul and Anne McNally of the Salvation Army.

Five local churches took part each singing their own chosen hymn – Northowram Methodist, St John's Warley, Halifax Parish Church, Lee Mount Baptist and St Jude's, Savile Park. The songsters of the Salvation Army sang an anthem and the band accompanied all the hymns. Susan Bradberry, secretary gave an address describing the work of the society. Paul McNally gave the thought for the week. The band master was Ronald Cliffe, the pianist, Lynda Hill and the songster leader, Bob Batchelor. The offertory for the Bible Society was 188.
