Son's death plunge in Thai resort

A FAMILY have paid tribute to their son who died while living in Thailand.

Edward Fairburn lost his life after a fall.

Police in Thailand are still establishing Eddie's movements on the days leading up to his death.

The father-of-three grew up in Halifax.

He attended Sacred Heart Primary School, Sowerby, and Halifax Catholic High School.

A statement from his family said: "Eddie will be most fondly remembered as a fun-loving son who lived life to the full.

"He saw a lot of the world in his 40 years."

He spent the last four years in Pattaya, Thailand.

He was a keen footballer and played for several local teams.

Most recently he was a player/manager for the Talbot Inn, Keighley Road, Halifax.

He is survived by his mother Brenda, stepfather Trevor, two brothers Jonathan and Paul and stepsisters Lynda, Carole and Helen.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned.

The funeral will take place at St Malachy's Church, Ovenden, Halifax, on September 1, at 10am.

He will be received into church the night before.

A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office said: "We can confirm the death of a British national in Thailand and are providing assistance for the family."
