Special bus just the ticket for young scientists

A SCIENCE bus that made a stop at a primary school was just the ticket for budding chemists.

The bus dropped in on Lee Mount Primary School, Halifax, and scientist Kieran Burns worked with pupils from Year 3 to Year 6, showing them all kinds of experiments.

Science manager Michelle Brent said: "Kieran is so passionate about his subject, the children were mesmerised by the experiments."

The visit gave the children an insight into what they will be studying at high school. Lee Mount has links with North Halifax Grammar School, with GCSE students going into the primary to give science demonstrations.

Miss Brent said: "Here at Lee Mount we are passionate about enthusing the children with science through cross-curricular links and hands-on experiences which relate to real life and our local community.

"We are so excited about science week and all the children are keen to take part in a fun-packed week of science learning.

"Since our recent outstanding Ofsted inspection we are continuously building on our existing good practice and we are going from strength to strength."
