Struggling Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce puts staff on redundancy notice
THE MID Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce and Industry has put all its staff on redundancy notice after the company fell into financial difficulties.
The group, known as the MYCCI, has entered a Company Voluntary Agreement, a legally-binding agreement with its creditors which could allow it to pay off existing debts from future profits.
Chadwick Lawrence, which is advising the group, confirmed all staff have been put on notice. It is understood to employ around 50 people.
The current board of directors will continue to run the company, which operates from offices in Huddersfield, Wakefield and the Elsie Whiteley Innovation Centre, Halifax.
The creditors are expected to meet in January to vote whether to back the agreement.
During the consulation period leading up to the vote, employees can now re-apply for their jobs.
A statement issued by the board of directors said: "It is anticipated that job losses will be minimised and there will be continuity of the business with further job opportunities once the finances of MYCCI have been stabilised."
The group offers training and support to businesses across Calderdale, Kirklees and Wakefield.
