Students through to finals of national maths competition
MATHS-minded pupils from Halifax will represent the county at a national competition in June.
Daniel Wilson, 12, Alfie Finan, 12, Alex Maurice, 12, and Cameron Wells, 13, of North Halifax Grammar School, qualified for the national championships of the UK Mathematics Trust after winning the regional finals at Bradford Grammar School.
During the contest they completed a number crossword, a group competition, a mini relay and a head-to-head contest, achieving 217 out of a possible 240 points.
Bev Ward, maths teacher, said: "I am very proud of them. They were outstanding on the day and great ambassadors for the school."
The students are now trying to raise the cash they need to travel to London on Monday June 21.
Daniel said: "We're really excited about going to London and we're all going to practise really hard to make sure we've got a chance of winning."
