The star of Christmas

LOVED ones are being given the chance to shine as part of a Christmas Star Appeal in aid of the Forget Me Not Trust.

The appeal, which will raise funds for the Mayor of Calderdale's chosen charity, involves hanging a star on a Christmas tree in the form of a dedication to that special someone. The tree is lighting up Babyballet Academy in Square Road, Halifax, and was visited by the Mayor and Mayoress of Calderdale, Conrad and Hilary Winterburn, earlier this week.

Money raised from the dedications will be used to provide children's hospice and respite care for families in the district.

Karen Dineed, head of fund-raising at the trust, said: "As the Mayor's charity, we are delighted to be working with Babyballet to raise funds for the trust.

"We hope the people of Calderdale will support this special event."
