There's no fun like snow fun this half term at Eureka!

HALF term is on the horizon and there's still no end in sight to the sub-zero temperatures that have chilled us to the bone for weeks.

But here's a chance to enjoy the snow once more as "school's out" next week. You don't need to fly to Canada to take part in the Winter Olympics this year - youngsters can head into Halifax for a wintry week of freezing fun.

The Eureka Winter Games at the national children's museum from Saturday until Sunday, February 21, are free with standard admission. Now there is a new admission ticket, you can go every day for a total of 8.95 - and as many times as you like for the next 12 months!

There will be activities every day - children can build their own sleigh or make a snow pom-pom for Eureka's indoor snowball challenge.

Families can put their hats and scarves on to compete in a winter obstacle course featuring skiing, curling and sledging or make an Olympic torch. The really little ones might like to make a sledge for their teddy bear.

Castleford's Sno!Zone will also be at Eureka from Monday to Friday, giving visitors the chance to try another exciting winter sport with their snowboard simulator (a small charge may apply).

In the first of many celebrations taking place this year to mark the museum's 18th birthday, Eureka has recently introduced a new-style ticket giving visitors unlimited fun for 12 months. The new ticket, known as the annual pass, costs 8.95 for adults and children aged three and over and 2.95 for children aged one or two. A saver ticket for five people is 38.50.

The museum's railway carriage reopens to the public today after a 30,000 refurbishment thanks to Northern Rail. The 40-year-old railway carriage has been transformed into a playful learning space where families can enjoy picnics, learn about rail travel and play safety games. There's no fun like snow fun...
