VINTAGE VEHICLES
Although the animals are the main attraction at Todmorden Show there is much more to admire and the vintage vehicle section is packed with classics and draws much attention.
This year the sections classic cars were judges by Mike Wollerton, of Todmorden Toy and Model Shop, who awarded first place to a 1962 Austin A40 Farola Mk II owned by Mr and Mrs Northcott of Burnley.
Second place went to a Saab 96 VA from 1972 owned by Tony Berry of Ramsbottom and in third place was a 1971 Triumph Stag owned by Les Barker of Rochdale.
The classic bikes class was judged by Geoff Little of Oswaldtwistle who awarded first place to the Velocette MOV 250cc bike owned by J. R. Shaw of Oswaldtwistle.
In second place was a Triumph 21 from 1963 owned by M. H. Harper of Oswaldtwistle and in third was the 1965 BMW R60 owned by Gordon Barker of Accrington.
Mike Wollerton judged the vintage tractors class, which was won by the Ferguson TEF20 from 1956 owned by A. J. Carroll of St Helens. Second was the 1942 Fordson Standard N owned by Ian Waddington of Nelson and third was the 1967 John Deere 1020 owned by R. Feber of Blackpool.
This year the show date clashed with a show in Cheshire which meant there was only one entry in the static engines class - nevertheless Jim Critchley of Chorley's 1927 Petter M engine was well worth its admiring glances.
