TV's Tom is prince of panto

TEENAGE heart-throb and TV star Tom Milner is to make his professional pantomime debut in Halifax.

Tom, who hails from Northowram, is to play Prince Valiant in Sleeping Beauty, which opens at the Victoria Theatre on December 11.

The teenage star of BBC1 schools drama Waterloo Road – who has also appeared in recent episodes of Holby City – is thrilled he was selected.

Now he is hoping a "very good-looking blonde" will be cast in the title role.

Tickets for the pantomime, the second to be presented by Coventry-based Imagine Theatre, have been snapped up since going on sale during last winter's highly-praised production of Cinderella.

Popular Calderdale entertainer Neil Hurst, who captured hearts as Buttons, will return for this year's extravaganza as Josh the Jester.

Tom, who turned 19 last month, said he had wanted to act in pantomime this year and preferred to take to the stage in Halifax if possible.

He successfully auditioned in Coventry and is now waiting to see who else will be cast in the other leading roles.

He said: "I started off by doing amateur panto but this will be a challenge.

"I love the stage and really wanted to do pantomime this year in Halifax."

Sleeping Beauty will run until January 2. For details of dates, times and ticket prices contact the box office on 01422 351158. Early booking discounts are available until the end of September.
