Vandals cut cables to CCTV cameras at M62 roadworks
CABLE vandals attacking motorway roadworks could be putting their lives at risk – as well as those of workers and drivers.
Police have had several complaints of damaged fibre-optic cables on the M62 between junction 25 at Brighouse and junction 28 at Tingley.
The cables are being used to operate CCTV cameras to monitor traffic during work on a safety scheme.
Some have been cut and others stolen.
Police said the vandals were putting their own health at risk and if the CCTV was unable to work then there were dangers for road users and workers.
"There are concerns that a potentially serious incident may take place," said a spokesman.
