Volunteers first to get investor award
TWO Calderdale groups have gained top marks for their volunteering.
Calderdale Smart Move and the Calderdale branch of the Scope charity have been presented with the Investor in Volunteers award. They are the frist in the district to get the award.
Calderdale Smart Move, Portland Place, Halifax, supports homeless people and low-income families.
Scope, a disability charity for cerebral palsy sufferers, is based at Francis Street, in the Bembridge Park Centre, Halifax.
The award acknowledges the efforts of the supporters and workers and is delivered by Volunteering England.
Jill Norman, of Calderdale Smart Move, said: "We have worked very hard for this so it is great to be recognised."
Volunteer Carole Coleman said: "I feel very pleased as it gives recognition to all the hard work done for the organisation by volunteers and staff."
Anyone interested in becoming a Smart Move volunteer should contact Jill on 01422 361515. A new training course begins in January.
