Woman joined in attack
A WOMAN who kicked and stamped on a man while he lay on the ground has appeared before Bradford Crown Court.
Donna Parkinson, 20, of Longbottom Terrace, Siddal, Halifax, admitted assaulting Andrew White and causing him actual bodily harm, criminal damage, theft and attempted theft.
She was given a community order for 18 months with supervision.
Louise Azmi, prosecuting, said the attack happened on November 11 in Halifax town centre after Parkinson and a group of friends had been drinking heavily.
She said the incident started when another man attacked Mr White and Parkinson joined in once he had been put to the ground.
He suffered a swollen nose, a cut to his right eye and a grazed face.
Mrs Azmi said another person had been charged with Parkinson but the case had been dropped.
Recorder Michael Smith asked: "Which bright spark made that decision? Some bright spark in the Crown Prosecution Service?"
But Mrs Azmi was unable to assist the court. She said there had been some suggestion the victim had been aggressive initially.
Parkinson told police she was drunk at the time of the offence and could not explain why she got involved.
CCTV footage of the incident was played to the court.
On June 9 last year Parkinson threw a brick through her mother's window. On November 5 she stole 90 worth of goods from the former Woolworths at Market Street, Halifax, and on February 16, she tried to steal five bottles of whisky from Sainsbury's, Wade Street, Halifax.
Charlotte Eastwood, for Parkinson, said: "She is a woman with a very troubled history."
Recorder Smith told Parkinson: "I don't know if you watched that DVD but it was pretty sickening wasn't it?"
