Woman's sex kidnap ordeal: Attackers got out of Ford Focus and dragged her on to wasteland

A TERRIFIED young woman was dragged on to waste ground by two men who tried to sexually assault her.

The 22-year-old victim was walking home along Straight Lane from Mixenden towards Illingworth, Halifax, when a new-looking dark Ford Focus ST pulled up alongside her.

The two men got out, pulled her on to waste ground at the roadside and began a terrifying sex attack.

The girl only escaped when the two were interrupted by another car that approached and stopped.

The men fled in their car and the other vehicle also drove off.

Detective Sergeant Terry O'Keeffe, of Calderdale CID, said: "This was a terrifying incident for the young woman.

"She was very lucky that the other car stopped or we believe we could be looking at a very serious assault."

He urged the driver of the car that stopped to get in touch, saying they could hold vital information that could help find the culprits.

They also want to speak to the driver of a silver taxi that passed the victim as she walked home.

The first suspect – the driver of the Ford Focus – is described as in his mid-20s, about 6ft tall and of skinny build.

He was white and had a thin face which appeared drawn and a big nose. He had short dark hair with a fringe.

He was was wearing a long-sleeved top with black and white hoops, dark trousers and he spoke with a local accent.

The second suspect, the passenger, was described as white, around 30, 5ft 4ins tall and slim.

He had short dark hair with a long fringe and was wearing cream-coloured jeans and a black bomber jacket.

Det Sgt O'Keeffe urged young women to take care and stay safe when on their way home and tp take a taxi rather than walk on their own.

Any witnesses or anyone with information about the attack, which happened between 1.30am and 2am on Saturday, should contact Det Sgt O'Keeffe direct on 01422 337087 or via 0845 6060606.

Alternatively they can call the independent crime fighting charity Crime-Stoppers, where information can be passed anonymously. The CrimeStoppers number is 0800 555 111.
