Woman takes pet ducks on holiday to Scotland

A Leeds animal lover treats her two pet ducks so much like her own family that she took them away on holiday to cheer them up after the loss of their best pal.

Known as Donella Dolittle to her neighbours, the 45-year-old is quackers about her pets and after they lost their feathered friend she could not bear to leave them behind.

So when Donella Fernyhough went away for a relaxing break to Scotland with husband Bernard, she took her ducks along with her.

Donella said: "It's the first time we have ever taken them to Scotland, where we go every year to relax. They had never been separated from Coirie.

"We really needed to break that memory cycle and they are now so much better and happier than before we went away."

"I took a mini bath with us because ducks like to preen themselves and we took piles of hay for them to play in. But usually they stayed with us while we roamed the estate and had picnics by the side of the loch."
