World economic experts in Halifax
Economic experts and business leaders from China, Singapore, Colombia, Italy, Norway, and Ireland will be in Halifax on Monday to see what the town is doing to combat the recession.
They are interested in how the town overcame the devastating effects of the economic downturn of the 1980s when job losses and factory closures were announced weekly.
Their tour includes the former Dean Clough carpet mill complex – now a thriving a business park, once again employing thousands of people.
They will also visit Huddersfield's Media Centre, where the four-day fact-finding and learning event is centred, Sheffield's Workstation complex and Barnsley's Digital Media Centre.
