Yes... this really is a robin
SCRUFFY the bird is looking slightly worse for wear – but he's ever so happy.
The picture of the robin was taken by Courier reader David Baggaley, of Oxford Lane, Siddal, Hali-fax.
He said: "Scruffy has visited our garden every day since February."
Despite looking wounded, the sprightly bird has managed to retain the love of his pretty mate.
"His mate clearly still loves him. They have had two broods this year. We have seen them perched together in the garden" said Mr Baggaley.
Scruffy is thought to have lost his feathers in an attack by a sparrow hawk.
Wendy Baggaley said: "We are very surprised he has lasted this long. There were times when we thought he was a goner.
"But we have noticed a bit of his red tum coming back.
"He is getting a bit plump too, which is because we are feeding him well."
The little bird is regaining his health on a diet of cheese, crushed peanuts and good bird food.
Mrs Baggaley said: "I feed Scruffy, Marks & Spencer Cheddar. It's what I eat as well."
