You Tube water victim vows to carry on waving from filling station walll

A WOMAN attacked by water-throwing yobs has vowed not to give up her favourite pastime in 2009.

In May the Courier reported how two cruel lads threw a bucket of water over Joan Ellison, filmed her ordeal and then posted the footage on You Tube.

Joan, 52, can be found most days, despite the chilly weather, sitting outside the filling station in Boothtown Road, Boothtown, Halifax, drinking coffee, waving and chatting to passers-by.

But Joan, of Poplar Street, Boothtown, says the bullies will not spoil her fun.

"I have been out here every day over the festive season, she said.

"I am happy to say I know all the Boothtown community through sitting here. I'm out all hours and in all weathers. People pass the time of day with me, I mind people's dogs when they go into the petrol station and I enjoy myself.

"The day I don't make the wall will be the day they carry me out in a coffin.

"All that You Tube business is over with. Although it made me famous or infamous – I have had no trouble since."

The Boothtown community rallied around Jean after the You Tube incident earlier this year.

One person said she was the "cornerstone of Boothtown."
