Young Calderdale artists go on show at the Tate
BUDDING young Calderdale artists are having their work displayed in the European Capital of Culture.
The youngsters, from Luddenden Dene Junior and Infants School, Luddenden, have been selected as some of the most promising young artists in the UK to have a special exhibition of their work at the Tate Modern Gallery, Liverpool.
The Year 4 pupils' work – an animation film based around a block of flats they have made out of shoeboxes with wooden spoons – is on display next week where they have planned a coach-trip to see it.
The exhibition is part of a project, run by Unilever, called Beauty and Difference: Worlds Apart, and could see the Luddenden pupils' work representing the UK at a special event in London.
Gavin Neath, of Unilever, said: "The quality of thinking that went into the works is as impressive as their execution."
The work is on display in the Education Studio at Tate Liverpool from January 23 to January 26.
