Bricks were thrown at firefighters as they attended a hoax call.
The crew, from Halifax, were called to Marshway, Pellon, at 12.30am yesterday.
When they arrived there was no fire but the engine came under attack from yobs hurling bricks.
One of them hit the side of the truck.
Commander Andy Quinn said: “It’s mindless yobs jumping on the bandwagon and they probably don’t know themselves why they’re doing it.
“While they are wasting our time, we can’t attend real incidents putting the public at risk.”
The attack came in the wake of rioting across the UK.
Riot police were called to Asda at Bradley, Huddersfield, and fire crews were attacked at a blaze in Sheepridge Road, Huddersfield.
