Loved up Calderdale couples will take a trip down the aisle this St Valentine’s Day.

Six romantic pairs will tie the knot on the most romantic day of the year tomorrow in ceremonies at Calderdale Register Office, Spring Hall Mansions, Halifax.

Among the couples are Wiz Hampson-Smith and Chris Ineson, of Sowerby Bridge, who were childhood sweethearts and dated first when they were 16-years-old for 18 months.

When they broke up, they lost contact with each other until nine-months-ago when they rekindled their love on Facebook - a story similar to that of Alan and Celia’s story from the TV show Last Tango in Halifax.

“It is another chance for us. He was my first love and our wedding will be lovely,” Wiz said.

Lovebirds Joanne Denny and Steven Morley, of Illingworth, are also gearing up for their big day on St Valentine’s Day. They will exchange their vows at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, on Saturday.

The couple got engaged on Valentine’s Day four years ago and thought it would be a special way to celebrate the momentous occasion.

“We thought that the date would be booked up when we went to speak to the venue but it wasn’t,” said Joanne.

“It is all very exciting and special.”
