A 30-year-old man has been charged with affray following an incident where armed police were called to a Halifax house.

Kieron Cassidy appeared at Calderdale Magistrates Court this week in relation to the events that happened in Ovenden Way, Ovenden last Friday.

A police spokesperson said last week that armed police attended the scene and began negotiations with a man, who appeared to brandish a sword and a handgun at officers from an upstairs window.

The road was closed with emergency crews including ambulance services and fire crews in attendence.

The incident was eventually resolved with no shots being fired and the man being taken to hospital.

No pleas were entered as Mr Cassidy was remanded in custody until his next court appearance at Bradford Crown Court on Monday June 27.
