Man from Calderdale killed after lorry blown over

A MAN from Calderdale has died after being crushed by a lorry blown over by yesterday’s high winds.

The horrific accident happened just before 2pm yesterday when the 35-year-old was crossing Neville Street in Leeds city centre along with a 22-year-old woman from Leeds.

The curtain-sided lorry, heading towards the city centre, overturned, trapping both of them.

They were taken to Leeds General Infirmary where the man later died.

The woman is still in hospital with serious injuries.
